3D printer [3DUJ-553] employing the [UV curing inkjet method], which performs modeling with UV ink (C, M, Y, K, White, Clear) printing, curing and piling layer by layer. Coloring is not by post processing but modeling while using color inks, which can produce an object of exquisite full color representation.

Modeling by a simultaneous print with color ink and support material ink of sliced data of 3D object.

Modeling by color ink (CMYK,White,Clear) can achieve 84% of the Fogra 39L color gamut and cover 90% of SWOP gamut. According to modeling by color ink with high transparency, the outside light reflects on the surface of white ink layer, which will present a good colored modeling on the background of white layer.

Color profile is employed to enhance color reproducibility.

It is the worlds first technology (*1) as an inkjet method 3D printer to apply color profile. By implementing a color simulation profile created by [MPM3] (option) to Adobe Photoshop, the color to be printed will be able to check on a PC monitor. It is convenient to be able to remove the support material of delicate designed object without damage.

The removing time of support material depends on size and modeling configuration.

A space will be formed between the dragon and the ball after washing away the support material there. It will give a design option to rotate the dragon holding ball.

[3DUJ-553] applies UV ink curing by irradiation of UV (Ultra Violet). The UV LED of curing source hardly exerts thermal influence to object and start time for lighting-up is not necessary. Long life and power saving can reduce the running cost.

The worlds first equipment (*1) with the ink circulation print head as the 3D inkjet printer. Stable ink firing by the equipment of [Ink Circulation Print Head] for circulating of ink to prevent the ink pigment sedimentation. And this ink circulation system can remove air bubbles causing the nozzle clogging to keep optimizing the best condition of ink jetting.

[NCU] as the worlds first equipment (*1) to [3DUJ-553] examines automatically the nozzle status by infrared sensor. When it detects a nozzle clogging, [NCU] performs the auto-clean to eliminate it. Detection frequency can be set per modeling data or by time. It forestalls a modeling loss after occurring a nozzle clogging.

Monitoring camera is loaded for remote check of modeling status. It allows to reduce modeling losses by a constant monitoring.

The Prometheus System, which will be hittingKickstarteron September 6, is a novel extrusion system that plugs directly into the motherboards of any low-cost FFF/FDM 3D printers and turns them into, according to DisTech, commercial-grade multi-material machines. Compatible with both Marlin and Repetier firmware, the Prometheus System usesCurato generate G-code that automatically controls filament switching and purging for multicolor and multi-material prints.

Single color and single material 3D printing has always been the standard for low-cost printers, says Eric Sammut, CEO of DisTech Automation. The Prometheus System will expand the capabilities of these 3D printers and enable them to produce vibrant multi-color objects, print with support material, and create unique multi-material prints.

DisTech released the successful, customizable all-metal Prometheus Hot End in 2014, following up a year later with the upgraded Prometheus V2, which is the central component of the new Prometheus System. In addition to the V2 hot end, the system includes the ProStruder, an extruder with five times as much torque as conventional extruders thanks to a powerful geared stepper motor, and the ProFeeder, which takes two filament inputs from the extruders and channels them into a single output that feeds into the hot end allowing the printer to switch easily between filaments and to print different filaments from a single nozzle.

The Prometheus System, according to DisTech, isnt just any dual-extruder printer, though. The single nozzle avoids common dual-nozzle issues such as calibration problems and dripping, and eliminates the risk of color contamination by feeding one filament at a time into the single hot end.

The Prometheus System solves all of the issues associated with conventional methods of dual extrusion, continues Sammut. We believe that this new product will set a new standard for desktop 3D printing.

The Kickstarter campaign is aiming to raise $10,000 CAD. Supporter rewards start at $19 CAD/$15 USD, which will get you a cool two-color 3D printed keychain, while an early bird pledge of $189 CAD/$147 USD (non-early bird amount is $219 CAD/$170 USD) offers an upgrade for the current Prometheus V2 Hot End. You can get the full Prometheus System for an early bird pledge of $259 CAD/$201 USD, or a regular pledge of $299 CAD/$232 USD. For $2,449 CAD/$1,937 USD, you can get a full 3D Factory comprised of 10 Prometheus System kits, and for $2,999 CAD/$2,325 USD, youll be able to tour the DisTech Automation development lab in Kingston, Ontario. The company will even buy you dinner, and youll receive the very first fully assembled Prometheus System.

The Prometheus System will be open source, and rewards are estimated to begin shipping in October. All rewards, with the exception of the highest level, will be shipped in unassembled kit form. The AJ 45X is a compact, high throughput, mass production system for 3D Printed Electronics. Designed specifically for 24/7 operation the 45X is robustly constructed for minimal maintenance operation. Linear motor and encoder technology guarantee maximum printing accuracies (+/- 5m) even at high-dynamic feed rates. High speed ( 1ms) motion control and simultaneous calculation for axis positioning enables rapid and consistent print speeds enabling optimised print cycle times. Look Ahead path control with jerk compensation ensures harmonious movement and sinusoidal accelerations that guarantee printing accuracy.

Light Beam Sintering (LBS) is a non-contact, photonic sintering technique that is applied to printed electronic circuits on low temperature substrates such as Polycarbonate (PC). Each sintering head consists of a specially selected light source with integrated air-cooled reflector and lens system. The projected light beam (tuned to the absorption wavelength of the printed media) is focussed on the printed trace where local heating and sintering takes place. The heat distribution is precise enough to sinter the printed structure whilst leaving the peripheral area of the substrate unaffected.

The LBS 45X E is a low cost, high throughput system for rapidly processing 3D Printed Electronic structures. With up to 4 LBS heads and 5 axes of simultaneous motion, parallel processing of multiple components is achieved. LBS technology can also be integrated in the AJ15X RP systems.

BASF, LSS, and Farsoon join forces in developing solutions for 3D-parts printed by selective laser sintering

New material featuring high strength and heat stability

Ludwigshafen and Frankfurt, Germany BASF, the worlds leading chemical company, Farsoon Hi-tech, a manufacturer of selective laser sintering and melting, and Laser-Sinter-Service (LSS), a supplier of support and field service for additive manufacturing (AM) equipment are cooperating to develop integral solutions for materials, printers, technology and service for 3D printing that can be tailored to meet individual customer needs. The partners are highlighting their collaboration on laser sintering equipment, materials, technology and services at LSSs booth E81, hall 3.1, at formnext trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany, November, 17-20, 2015.

The production of individually shaped plastic parts by additive manufacturing using a 3D printing method is gaining increasing prominence in industry. Laser sintering is one method used in the field of additive manufacturing. Following a three-dimensional blueprint, a laser draws the shape of an object in a powder, e.g. polyamide. The material powder hit by the laser beam melts and forms the desired 3D object layer by layer.

Many complex plastic parts are to date produced by an injection molding process. However, 3D techniques offer decisive advantages: they generate lower costs in small series production and are more time-efficient because no casting mold is needed. Consequently, parts manufacturers are able to address customer wishes much faster and more individually.

The materials currently offered on the market do not, however, satisfy the high requirements for industrial applications for functional components as regards stability in long-term use or mechanical and chemical stress. This applies especially for shape and weight optimized components in the aeronautical, automotive and consumers goods sectors.

We offer an open platform where customers are free to use materials of any manufacturer, explains Guido Elbrecht, Managing Director at LSS. Furthermore our collaboration with BASF and Farsoon is open for potential customers to jointly develop solutions for functional applications where materials, equipment and processing are aligned. LSS supports its customers with consulting, engineering and services for additive manufacturing solutions. With its expertise LSS ensures the successful implementation and production of customer applications using BASFs new PA6 materials on Farsoons 3D printers.

In this cooperation, BASF has developed a polyamide-6 powder for laser sintering processes which can be jointly adapted with partners and customers for specific applications. Objects made of this innovative material are distinguished by higher strength and heat stability than objects made of the previously used polyamide-12. We want to offer our customers materials more suitable for series production, for example of functional components. This is achieved by their processing properties and in combination with the machine of Farsoon, explains Dr. Dirk Simon, Business Director Innovation Business Unit 3D-Printing. Our material is also distinguished by good recyclability.

Farsoon has worked closely with BASF and LSS to develop a system that can offer new process and material solutions to the customer, states Dr. Xu Xiaoshu, Chairman of Farsoon. 3D Systems will stop selling its desktop 3D printer, the Cube, effectively exiting the consumer 3D printing market.

Printing company 3D Systemsplans to discontinueits desktop 3D printer, effectively exiting the consumer 3D printing market just three years.

The companys sharesfell 9% after the announcement on Monday, and another 4% to below $10 a share by Tuesday afternoon.

3D Systems decision to stop producing the printer, known as the Cube, reflects managements plans to focus its resources and strategic initiatives on near-term opportunities and profitability,the company said in a statement.During its November earnings call, the South Carolina-based company hinted at big changes when chief financial officer David Styka said, We are taking decisive steps to further reduce our cost structure and better prioritize our resources around near-term opportunities.

In other words, 3D Systems is cutting the fat after a difficult year. The company has weathered thedeparture of longtime CEO Avi Reichental, an$11 million loss in arbitrationdeclining revenue, and, most recently,planned layoffsat one of the companys satellite offices in Massachusetts.

By discontinuing sales of the Cube and shifting away from the consumer market, 3D Systemsit expects to increase profitability. In the third quarter, it lost$32.2 million.

The retrenchment by 3D Systems comes amid abroader realizationthat consumer 3D printingdesktop 3D printers that people buy for home useis not a lucrative market.The technology is still too complicatedfor mainstream adoption, if it ever happens at all.

Following 3D Systems announcement, rival 3D-printing company Stratasys alsosaw its stock price fall by 6%to below $25 a share. Stratasysentered the consumer 3D printing market in 2013 by acquiring Brooklyn-based MakerBot. Since then, MakerBot has struggled. Revenues declined sharply in 2015, and the company has gone throughtwo rounds of layoffs.

Research firmGartner has concludedthat widespread consumer adoption of 3D printing is still five years away. That predication is reflected in the makeup of worldwide sales of 3D printers and related technology. Sales for industrial-scale 3D printers reached $1.12 billion globally in 2014, while the desktop market lagged behind at only $173.3 million,according to consulting firm Wohlers Associates.

In connection with our ongoing review of our business and industry, we believe that the most meaningful opportunities today are in professional and industrial settings, from the product design shop to the operating room to the factory floor, Andy Johnson, 3D Systems interim CEO,said in a statement.

The company plans to sell off its remaining inventory of Cube printers, which originally cost $999. A related consumer-facing website, , will be shut down by the end of January.

But 3D Systems plans to continue to sell its CubePro desktop 3D printer, whichis aimedat engineers, educators, and other professionals.
